John Ousterhout, Chairman of the Board
John Ousterhout is Founder and Board Chairman of Electric Cloud, Inc. He is also the creator of the Tcl scripting language and is well known for his work in distributed operating systems, high-performance file systems, and user interfaces.
Prior to Electric Cloud, John was Founder and CEO of Scriptics Corporation (acquired by Interwoven (IWOV)), Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems (SUNW), and Professor of Computer Science at U.C. Berkeley.
John holds a BS degree in Physics from Yale University and a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering and has received numerous awards, including the ACM Software System Award, the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award, the National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award, and the U.C. Berkeley Distinguished Teaching Award.
Mike Maciag
Mike Maciag is CEO of Electric Cloud, Inc. Prior to joining Electric Cloud, Mike was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at MS2 (acquired by Agile Software (AGIL)), an enterprise software company he founded in 1998 where he established a new application category Product Lifecycle Automation (PLA). Prior to MS2, Mike played an essential role in establishing new markets at Electronics for Imaging and NetFrame Systems, Inc., which led both companies to successful public offerings. Mike also served as Executive Director of Corporate Development for Informix Software (acquired by IBM) where he managed the corporate venture fund, mergers and acquisitions, product marketing strategy and venture community relationship management.
Mike holds a BS degree from Santa Clara University as well as an MBA from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Allen Morgan
Allen Morgan is a General Partner with Mayfield. Mr. Morgan's investment focus is on technologically innovative solutions that enhance knowledge-worker productivity in the enterprise software infrastructure and applications arena as well as new companies in the area of interactive entertainment and new media. Mr. Morgan currently serves on the boards of Beatnik, Electric Cloud, PlanetOut Partners, Scalix (formerly BAMail), and Varsity Group (VSTY).
Prior to joining Mayfield, Mr. Morgan was a partner with renowned Silicon Valley law firms Latham & Watkins and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he led a successful legal career facilitating more than 350 venture capital financing, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and other public offerings.
Mr. Morgan holds an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, a second BA degree and MA degree from Oxford University and a JD from the University of Virginia.
David E. Liddle
When David E. Liddle joined USVP in 2000, he'd already had a long association with the firm. Having served for nearly 10 years on USVP's Technical Advisory Board, David left his post as president and CEO of business incubator Interval Research Corporation and was persuaded by long-time friends Irwin Federman and Phil Young to "just come in and look at a few deals."
Prior to co-founding Interval with Paul Allen, David founded Metaphor which was acquired by IBM in 1991, which named him Vice President of Business development for IBM Personal Systems. David's extensive experience in research and development has focused largely on human-computer interactions and includes 10 years at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), from 1972 to 1982. He has been a director of Sybase, Broderbund Software, Borland International and Ticketmaster, and is currently on the board of the New York Times Company. His board involvement at USVP includes Axiom Microdevices, Caspian Networks, Gear6, Klocwork, MaxLinear, MaXXan, Optichron, PacketHop and T-RAM.
David earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in EECS at the University of Toledo, where his dissertation focused on reconfigurable computing machines and theories of encryption, encoding and signal recovery. His contributions to human-computer interaction design earned him the distinction of Senior Fellow at the Royal College of Art.
William Porteous
Mr. Porteous is a General Partner with RRE Ventures. He was previously a Principal, having joined the firm as an Associate in 2000. Before joining the venture capital industry, Mr. Porteous held senior management positions in marketing and product management with SupplyWorks and NetMarket, the e-commerce pioneer now owned by Cendant Corp. Mr. Porteous is a Director of Coldwatt, Data Robotics, Electric Cloud, NTM and Softcoin and a former Director of Frictionless Commerce (acquired by SAP) and Tacit Networks (acquired by PKTR). In addition, he is actively involved in the firm’s investments in Ember and PrimeRevenue. He also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia Business School and as a Director of the Software Division of the Software and Information Industry Association.
Mr. Porteous holds an MBA from Harvard University, an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA with Honors from Stanford University where he served as Captain of the Varsity Crew.
Gary F. Hromadko
Gary Hromadko is a Venture Partner with Crosslink Capital and private investor whose focus is enterprise software, communications and interactive services businesses leveraging the Internet. Mr. Hromadko currently serves on the boards of Electric Cloud, Yipes Communications, Good Technology and Equinix, Incorporated (EQIX); and led the Crosslink investment in VitalStream.
Prior to his current activity, Mr. Hromadko was with Merrill, Pickard, Anderson and Eyre; Robertson, Stephens and Company; and Dodge & Cox.
Mr. Hromadko holds a BA degree from Carleton College, MA degree in English literature and an MBA degree from the University of Virginia. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Mr. Hromadko was a year 2001 Selector for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellows Awards.
Jayaram Bhat
Jayaram Bhat has over 23 years of marketing experience in high technology companies with focuses on IT infrastructure, Enterprise Systems and Applications Management, Datacenter Automation and Management, Applications Development and Security.
Presently, Mr. Bhat is providing his expertise in corporate business strategy, marketing plans, and sales channels as a consultant to clients CenterRun, Electric Cloud, and Euclid. Mr. Bhat currently serves on the boards of Tealeaf Technology, Electric Cloud, and Cyber-Ark. Previously, Mr. Bhat was Vice President of Marketing at Mercury Interactive Corporation (MERQ) where he helped lead the company from pre-IPO to a dominant enterprise infrastructure software powerhouse. Prior to Mercury Interactive, Mr. Bhat held marketing management positions at Cadence Design Systems (CDN), EDA Systems, Daisy Systems, and Intel Corporation (INTC).
Mr. Bhat holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and a MS in Operations Research from universities in India and an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Douglas Schrier
Prior to joining Rembrandt Venture Partners Douglas Schrier was at Argo Global Capital since 2001 where he was a Senior Partner. Doug has been involved in funding, managing, and developing technology companies for over 19 years. His prior experience includes being Senior Vice-President for Acquisitions and Strategic Ventures at SAIC in La Jolla, CA. While at SAIC, Doug was responsible for investing over $90 million in nine companies, as well as being responsible for commercial, acquisitions and joint ventures. Doug was co-founder of Multum Information Services and President of Ceon Corporation where collectively he raised over $75 million. Doug has also held positions at Salomon Brothers Inc., where he was an Associate in their Venture Capital Group and at Prudential-Bache Capital Funding where he worked as an Associate in Corporate Finance. Currently, Doug sits on the boards of Electric Cloud and Sylantro Systems.
Doug received his MBA from Columbia Business School in 1990 and his undergraduate degree in Economics/Pre-Med from DePauw University in 1986.
